Northwood’s stubborn resistance was finally broken as a second-half brace from Gavin Jaggard enabled the Ducks to deservedly progress to the next round.

Manager Colin Payne decided to retain Darren Grieves alongside Peter Dean in attack, while Dean Lindsay continued in goal, with Gavin Hart replacing the unfit Dave Nolan at right-back.

And the first half followed a similar pattern to Saturday, with Aylesbury dominating proceedings and creating a host of opportunities. Paul Edgeworth, Gavin Jaggard and Dean Powles all had chances as the Ducks profligacy continued, Woods' central defensive duo of Luke Evans and Jamie Palmer standing resolute, with keeper Lindsay showing a safe pair of hands.

After a promising opening spell, Northwood had little to show in attack, a Luke Evans header from a Frazer Toms free kick flashed wide of the upright, and a Grieves shot on the turn being the extent of their offensive work.

Woods lost the influential Chris Gell at the break with a recurrence of his hamstring problem, Harry Howell replacing him in midfield. And there was further injury worries for the visitors minutes later as Toms departed with a groin strain, Ryan Kirkland his replacement.

And the deadlock was finally broken six minutes after the restart as Jaggard broke clear of the Woods' defence to neatly lift the ball over the advancing Lindsay to give Aylesbury a deserved lead.

However, for a brief spell Woods began to find some rhythm, with Kirkland making a number of speedy forays down the right flank. But for all their possession, Northwood failed to seriously test Aylesbury keeper Jack Rashid. Grieves, Howell, and Dean all had chances, but too often the the final ball was lacking the necessary quality.

Gradually Northwood began to run out of ideas, and their fate was sealed in the 89th minute when Jaggard converted a cross from close range to book the Ducks a trip to Norfolk in the next round where Eastern Counties Leaguers Wroxham await them.
